Excel Functions

TM1 Function – DBR

Available In

Excel

Definition

Retrieve and write back a value or text to a cube’s cell. DBR is less efficient over a WAN than DBRW. DBR will be processed before a DBRW.

Syntax

DBR(TM1ServerName:CubeName, Element1, Element2, Element3, …, ElementN);

TM1ServerName = Name of the TM1 Server
CubeName = Name of the Cube
Element1 to ElementN = An element in each dimension from the Cube. Each element must be ordered based on the dimension for the Cube.

Example

Get data from the ‘Product Scorecard’ cube on the ‘AdventureWorks’ server at this intersection:

Element1 = Actual (Version)
Element2 = 2019 (Year)
Element3 = Q1 (Quarter)
Element4 = All elements (Product Type)
Element5 = Sales Amount (Product Scorecard)
Element6 = Value (Product Scorecard Measure)

This is how each parameter are defined for the DBR formula.

TM1ServerName = AdventureWorks

CubeName = Product Scorecard

Elements

Element1 = Actual (Version)
Element2 = 2019 (Year)
Element3 = Q1 (Quarter)
Element4 = Product Type
Element5 = Sales Amount (Product Scorecard)
Element6 = Value (Product Scorecard Measure)

In Excel:

DBR(“Adventureworks:Product Scorecard”, “Actual”, “2019”, “Q1”, B22, “Sales Amount”, “Value”)

OR

DBR(“Adventureworks:Product Scorecard”, $C$14, $C$15, $C$16, B22, $C$17, $C$18)

The result shows the Actual value.

This formula can now be copied into the other cells of the report.

The same values are shown in IBM Planning Analytics via the Viewer.
